'THE TREAD BOARDS AWARDS'
(SUMMER SHOWCASE 2019)

On Tuesday 9th July 2019, we performed our Summer Showcase 'The Tread Boards Awards' at the Earls High School.

The evening had the theme of Awards Shows and for this, we did a lot of research into how people walk down red carpets, what they say when being interviewed on the red carpet, what they say when they collect an award and also what happens when things go wrong and people get an award they shouldn't (anyone remember 'Moonlight' at the Oscars?)

The featured a mix of different drama styles and gave us a brilliant opportunity to also share our films with the audience as well. Throughout the night, members collected silly awards (a golden shoe!) and gave acceptance speeches.

It was brilliant to see how far all our members have come (some had only been with us for a few weeks, but still made huge leaps in confidence and skill) and how much they've grown, not only as performers, but as young people as well.

My personal highlight from the evening is seeing the support the members all gave to some of our newer members who suffered with a small bought of stage fright. They could be heard clapping and cheering as they went on stage to offer their encouragement.
